Here is another, wider, view of some of the squid we encountered at Joy's Joy reef, which we visited a couple of times.

We found them in mid-water on the reef-top in very shallow water.

You can see from this image that one of these cephalopods is beginning to lighten its color. As they began to form couples and mate, one — I assume the male — would turn very white.
