Sea Lion

Cabo Marshall at Isabella Island provided a fleeting grab-shot of sea lions underwater.

On our first dive of the trip I did not take my camera because we were doing a checkout dive at Wreck Bay, mostly to tune our bouyancy and skills. But the dive gave us the amazing opportunity to play under water with sea lions and very young sea lion pups. They would swim down our bubble streams and right up to our masks, pulling gracefully away at the last instant.

They would dig up delicate sand dollars and play tag with them, passing the brittle dollars among each other by mouth without even chipping the sand dollar. Pretty graceful.

Unfortunately, this picture is as close as I got to more sea lions the remainder of the trip.
