We encountered this blue tang on a night dive at Hammerhead Gulch reef.

The night dives were a little disappointing in the number and variety of wildlife we are used to seeing on the reefs after dark. Usually, the reef looks completely different at night.

However, we did get a kick out of shutting off our lights, letting our eyes adjust to the dark and enjoying the bioluminescent theater. Unfortunately, it really can't be photographed but the experience must be akin to an acid flashback.

It was like watching a sci-fi movie of glow-in-the-dark space ships flying all around.

As you swim behind someone, the wash coming off his fins spins out in a green glow of tiny living particles.

It's remarkable.
