Moving slowly and looking closely often rewards divers. At the Meadows reef we might have moved right past this little inch-long treasure if we weren't paying attention. At depth, where most of the red end of the spectrum has been filtered out and everything has a blue cast, this saddled blenny looked interesting but routine. Then the strobe's warm light replenished the spectacular natural color and iridescence that the depth had concealed. |
