Marbled Ray
Our last dive was at Islote Mosquera, where we found this tenacious ray rooting in the sand like an armadillo for something to eat.

Apparently, he was onto something special because he allowed me to move in quite closely. And even when I frightened him off his prey, he would circle right back in soon as I backed off a couple of feet.

You can also see a bunch of freeloaders waiting to dart in and take the scraps, a behavior marine scientists call shadow feeding.
