The largest of The Galapagos Islands is Isabella. We were told that these lava flows were around 600 years old. But there are several volcanoes on this island and another one erupted as recently as late 2005. You feel almost like you're watching the creation of the archipelago in action as you pass islands in different stages of creation or decay. Sometimes you can see both on a single island. It's a spectacular site. |
