The Shark Pit

Here's another view of the Shark Pit. Also, called The Hell Hole, this was one of the dives we were determined to visit during our stay at Hamanasi. At the beginning of our stay, the dive manager for the resort was reluctant to take us to this site.

He said it was dangerous and he wanted to see how we did in the water before he would commit. So we behaved like good little divers for several days.

Finally, on our last day in Belize, they took us to this remarkable site. It derived its name from the nurse sharks that used to frequent the cave. Unfortunately, they were not around the day we dove it.

But it was still a beautiful and unusual dive. We followed this dive with a site called Eagle Ray point, near Tobacco Cayes. It was among our favorite of the entire trip. Nice way to wrap up a pretty amazing trip.
